한국 축구 대표팀 정식 감독으로 선임되면서 논란의 중심에 선 홍명보 감독은 지난 몇 개월간 울산HD에 남겠다는 약속을 되풀이했다.

지난 주말 한국 대표팀 감독으로 선임됐지만 홍 감독은 수요일(10일) 울산과 광주FC와의 경기에서는 일단 울산 감독직을 수행할 예정이다. 또한 울산 구단 측은 그가 구단에 좀 더 머무를 것이라고 한다.

알렉스 퍼거슨 감독은 영국 클럽팀 맨체스터 유나이티드에 합류하기 전 스코틀랜드 국가대표팀과 에버딘FC 감독을 겸직했다. 퍼거슨은 1978년부터 1986년까지 에버딘 감독직을 맡은 바 있다. 그는 1985-86년 시즌 당시 스코틀랜드 국가대표팀 감독이 의식을 잃고 쓰러지자 대신 나서 대표팀 지휘봉을 잡았다.

Guus Hiddink, who led Korea to the semifinals at the 2002 World Cup in Seoul, led the Australian national team at the 2006 World Cup while also at the helm of PSV.
