Korean swimmer Kim Seo-yeong failed to reach the women’s 200-meter individual medley semifinals at the Paris Olympics Friday after coming in seventh place in Heat 5 and finishing in 17th place out of 34 with a time of 2:12.42.
Kim needed a top-16 finish to qualify for the semifinals at the Paris La Defense Arena in Paris, but missed the cut.
Walsh Alex of the United States came in first in Heat 5 with a time of 2:10.38, followed by 2:10.96 by Ye Shiewn of China and 2:11.26 by McKeown Kaylee of Australia.
Bronze medalist Kim Woo-min, who medaled in the men’s 400-meter freestyle on July 28, remains the only Korean swimmer to have medaled in Paris as of press time Friday.
