Amy Yang finishes fourth in women's golf at Paris Olympics

Amy Yang failed to medal in the women’s golf tournament at the Paris Olympics Saturday after tying for fourth with a six under-par, 282, but still managed the best result by a Korean.

Yang carded a three-under-par, 69, in the last round at Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France, climbing up seven spots on the final day, but her final score was still four strokes behind gold medalist Lydia Ko of New Zealand at 278.

With her gold medal in Paris, Ko earned the 27 points necessary for induction into the LPGA Hall of Fame.

Esther Henseleit of Germany claimed silver with an eight-under-par, 280, while Lin Xiyu of China took bronze with a seven-under-par, 281.

Fellow Korean golfers Ko Jin-young and Kim Hyo-joo, meanwhile, both tied for 25th with a par, 288.

Saturday’s result means no medal in golf for Korea at this year’s Olympics, with no male Korean golfer having secured a medal in the men’s tournament that wrapped up earlier this week.

Tom Kim managed the highest finish in the tournament, finishing in eighth.

No Korean golfer has medaled at the Olympics following Park In-bee, who won gold in the women's tournament in 2016.

This year was a third straight time golf events took place at the Olympics since the sport’s return to the Games in 2016 after its absence from 1906 through 2012.
