KAA Gent midfielder Hong Hyun-seok confirmed Saturday on Instagram that reports about his move to Turkish team Trabzonspor are true.

KAA헨트 미드필더 홍현석이 지난 토요일 (8월 17일) 그가 튀르키예 팀 트라브존스포르로 이적한다는 보도가 사실이라고 인스타그램을 통해 확인했다.


Hong shared an Instagram story saying the following: “I am moving there because I want to. My agent told me not to go.”

그는 인스타그램 스토리에 다음과 같은 문구를 올렸다. "제가 가고 싶어서 가자고 한 것이다. 에이전트 형은 가지 말자고 한 사람(이다)"

The story came after some Korean fans on Instagram reportedly expressed their disappointment over his move to a non-major European league following reports from Turkish and Korean media suggesting that he looks set to join Trabzonspor on a four-year deal. He was previously linked to top-tier German team SV Werder Bremen.

이 스토리는 튀르키예와 한국 언론이 홍현석이 트라브존스포르와 4년 계약을 맺었으며 이적이 임박했다고 보도한 뒤 올라왔다. 일부 한국 팬은 그가 유럽의 유명 리그가 아닌 곳으로 가는 것에 실망감을 드러냈다는 보도도 나왔다. 그는 과거 독일 1부 리그 팀 SV 베르더 브레멘에 소속돼 있었다.

Trabzonspor have been one of the best-performing teams in the Super Lig, however, having won the league seven times and finished the 2023-24 campaign in third place on the 20-team table. The club most recently claimed the league title in the 2021-22 season.

A transfer to Trabzonspor will make Hong the only Korean player active in the league as well as the second Korean player to play for the club after ex-player Lee Eul-yong.
