SeoulArts hosts first-ever campus tour for international students ahead of 2025 admissions

The Seoul Institute of the Arts (SeoulArts) held a campus tour for international students interested in studying at the university, answering questions from prospective applicants ahead of its early admissions for 2025.

International students gathered at the SeoulArts campus in Ansan, Gyeonggi, on Monday to attend the campus tour and admissions question and answer (Q. and A.) session. This marked the first time the university offered a campus tour exclusively for international students, which was conducted in English.

Attending students expressed interest in various fields of art offered at the university, such as film, music and visual design.

Among the various arts universities, SeoulArts highlights its strong focus on practical education as one of its key strengths.

"Although we do teach some theory, history and philosophy, what we do is very much practical and hands-on," said Yoo Tay-guhn, president of SeoulArts. "Sometimes it's making something in class, sometimes the projects are big, and sometimes they're small, but we do focus on practical education."

According to the university, more than 80 percent of its classes are practical, field-based courses.

Visitors were able to tour the facilities used by students, including the Blackbox Theater, Arts & Technology Center, sound effects rooms and areas where students can rent equipment such as cameras.

The campus tour also introduced international students to student spaces such as the library, cafeteria and classrooms.

During the admissions Q. and A. session, which was exclusive to international students, the university explained the support programs available for international students.

The university offers three types of scholarships for international students. The New Student Scholarship provides a 100 percent, 75 percent or 50 percent first-semester tuition waiver to international students with the top three admissions scores. Those with TOPIK level 4 or higher are eligible for a Korean Language Scholarship that offers 1 million won ($750) and students with a grade-point average of 3.0 or above receive a 50 percent tuition waiver.

International students are also given priority when signing up for the university's dormitory, which can accommodate around 500 students.

SeoulArts is accepting documents for eligibility assessment, which determines if applicants are eligible to apply through the international student admissions track, until Sept. 13. The actual online application period is open between Sept. 25 and Oct. 2.
