The agricultural and livestock cooperative of Yongin, Gyeonggi, sprays sterilizer on Monday after the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza was detected in wild birds near Cheongmicheon on Oct. 14.
The Ministry of Environment strengthened its monitoring and quarantine measures with the establishment of a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) radius around the detection site.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, meanwhile, has restricted the movement of poultry in the area, with measures taken to limit exposure within 3 kilometers of the Cheongmicheon waterfront.
The authorities will conducted a three-day inspection of 150 migratory birds from Oct. 18 to Oct. 20.
