Hana Financial completes six-year-long project, opens 100th and final day care center

Hana Financial Group wrapped up its six-year, 150-billion-won ($108.7-million) project to build 100 day care centers across the country, with its 100th and final center completed, the firm said Sunday.
 
The latest day care center, located in Bongwha County, North Gyeongsang, held an opening ceremony with Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo and Bonghwa County Mayor Park Hyun-guk in attendance, along with teachers, children and their parents.

“I am truly heartened by Hana Financial Group’s project to build 100 day care centers, which has been moving forward tirelessly to address the country’s low birthrate for the past six years and has finally come to fruition,” said Ham.
 
“Hana Financial Group will continue its commitment to creating a world where the burden of childcare will not diminish the joy of having children, and where regional and working conditions will not hinder childcare.”
 
The newest two-story day care center was built jointly by Hana Financial Group and the local government of Bonghwa County in a public-private cooperation, measuring 751 square meters (8,084 square feet) in floor area. It can accommodate 70 children.
 
Hana’s charity project to build 100 day care centers began in 2018, with a total of 150 billion won invested in the project. The 100 centers can accommodate a total of 7,519 children and have created 1,510 new jobs nationwide. The firm estimates the project will create an economic impact worth 280.2 billion won a year.
