It marks the first occasion where TechCamp — a global tech leadership camp sponsored by the U.S. Department of State — took place in Korea.
A total of 47 Koreans comprised of university students, graduate students, professionals and young entrepreneurs serving in AI-related industries participated in the program. The panel of experts consisted of five U.S. AI professionals from Intel, Trust in Media Cooperative, Open AI and Google Cloud.
During the workshop, participants formed teams to pitch AI solutions for current issues, such as unauthorized deepfakes and the responsible usage of AI in education. The pitches will be eligible for future seed funding from the U.S. State Department.
Robert Post, a public affairs officer at the U.S. embassy, said that the youth should “ensure that older generations hear their hopes and innovative ideas for AI technology” during his opening remarks on Thursday.
