Foreign Affairs Minister Visits Hong Kong
On April 29, Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Lee Joung-binn and chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung Chee-hwa met in Hong Kong. According to one ministry official, the minister and the chief executive discussed the possibility of increasing visits between the two countries by expanding the number of air routes between the two countries.The ministry official also revealed that "the minister suggested improving cooperation between Korea and Hong Kong in the areas of trade, finance, and tourism."
Minister Lee returned to Korea on April 30 after wrapping up a four-day visit to China and Hong Kong. Before returning, he participated in the April 29 to 30 official year 2000 meeting held at the Korean Embassy in Hong Kong.
