&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Bicycle ad is eroding credibility

Subscribe and get a bicycle, or rather, subscribe to get a bicycle? Since when did the Joong-ang Ilbo start this kind of marketing? I thought that was a practice by other local newspaper companies to attract subscribers. Here is a direct question. Is my subscription paying for that bike?

I have respected the Joongang Ilbo for their neutral reports. That is why I read it. But with bicycles as bait to land a few more subscribers, my opinion faces a challenge. If the newspaper is doing what it is supposed to do, and doing it right, people will be convinced enough to buy it. It is very simple. A reader blinded by the two wheeler would not care so much about what is printed in the paper.

Take my advice. Do not waste time, money and energy on gifts. Invest it in creating better services and doing a better job!
