&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Slow down is best advice for motorists

I remember reading an article that said unmanned speeding cameras are effective in making roads safer. The reason was due to drivers consciously slowing down when notified of their presence in the approaching section of a road.
However, this is a wrong interpretation of the role of the cameras. The cameras serve as substitutes for police officers. The cameras can also prevent accidents caused by speeding. Drivers welcome signs located several hundred meters ahead of them, and slow down to prevent speeding tickets.
Drivers, don’t be nervous. Don’t keep an eye out for these signs. Just simply drive below the speed limit. Rid yourselves of guilt and drive safely -- at all times.
Drivers should drop the habit of stepping on the gas. If more people drove within the range of the speed limit set by law, the police would save money in their labors to catch speeders.
