Warning over new Web worms
The Ministry of Information and Communication has issued a warning against two new kinds of computer viruses that delete or alter files stored on hard drives. The ministry said the viruses, which have been dubbed “W32.Hawawi.worm” and “W32.HLLW.Der”, may spread to Korea through e-mail messages. They were first discovered overseas around Wednesday. The viruses infect Microsoft Corp.’s Outlook software installed on Windows 95 operating systems and above. They spread through e-mail messages using addresses registered on an infected computer system, the ministry said.
