[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]City parks too noisy
The headline on Choi Jie-ho’s article “Urban Escapes” (JoongAng Daily, April 15) implies that Seoul’s parks are little oases of peace and quiet, as parks in great cities tend to be. Yet, what are we escaping when we go to the park only to find, in Ms. Choi’s words, loudspeakers booming World Cup music, loudspeakers blasting patriotic songs and loudspeakers playing shrill music?Strangely, Ms. Choi skips right over these major annoyances. I suggest doing a story on how far Seoul has to go before having public spaces where people can actually relax.
