[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Draft evader story hits a raw nerveIt really bothers me that Yoo Seung-jun is getting any coverage in the press. I do not resent him, but I do despise the fact that he declared that he would serve Korea.
My father was a Korean War veteran and because the United States helped our country, I joined the United States armed services to say thank you. I am now back in Korea to serve our country.
How can I serve America, and not serve my country and look in the mirror and call myself a Korean man? I never accepted American citizenship in America despite my service in the U.S. military because I am Korean, not American.
Why should Yoo Seung-jun be any different? Why does he have to publicize that he’s doing social work for a church if he, as he says, is a Christian? Jesus said, “Do not do things for the glory of man, but for the glory of God.” We should do our good deeds and take pains that nobody knows.
He tries to portray a tough guy image, but he runs away from responsibility. This is a good example? I think not.
