Song Hye-gyo cast in Wong Kar-wai’s latest
According to China-based Internet portal Sina.com, Song’s agent commented that “It is confirmed that Song will be acting in the new movie The Grand Master and although her role in the movie has not yet been decided, we trust that the director will give her an appropriate role.” He added that Song had always wanted to work for Wong.
This is not the first time Wong has recruited Song to act in one of his movies, though it is the first time he’s been successful. “Before the Hollywood blockbuster ‘My Blueberry Nights,’ directed by Wong Kar-wai, went over to America, he had selected Song to play one of his main actresses’ role. The movie had cast America’s top stars such as Jude Law and Norah Jones,” Song’s agent said.
The Grand Master is expected to begin filming in mid-January 2010.
