Usher makes Seoul his only stop in Asia

R&B superstar Usher will have his first concert here on Saturday.

At the concert, the singer, who released his sixth studio album “Raymond v. Raymond” in March, will perform his latest hits, including “OMG,” which topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in May, and previous hits such as “U Remind Me,” “Yeah” and “Love in This Club.”

To date, Usher has garnered five Grammy Awards and sold over 45 million records worldwide.

Unlike other world-renowned pop stars who often include Seoul among a handful of Asian cities on their tours, Usher has chosen Seoul as the sole destination in this region.

Hyundai Card, the concert organizer and the country’s leading credit card issuer, says Usher’s Asian tour had to be canceled. When he was about to give up his concert in Seoul as well, he was persuaded to change his mind based on the list of top artists who have hit Seoul stages in recent years, Hyundai Card said.

The concert is the 10th in the card issuer’s Super Concert series. Previous participants in the series include Craig David, Beyonce, Billy Joel and, most recently, Andrea Bocelli.

The concert is set to take place at 7 p.m. on July 3 at the Gymnastics Stadium at Olympic Park in southeastern Seoul. Tickets range from 80,000 won ($68) to 146,000 won, and Hyundai Card subscribers are eligible for a 20 percent discount.
