The SK Telecom Open, being held in Jeju for the first time, started yesterday with 144 players but was whittled down to 60 for the final two rounds.
This season’s second major tournament in the KPGA has a total of 900 million won ($826,825) up for grabs, with the winner collecting 200 million won.
Golf fans will be excited to watch Choi Kyung-ju, who came back to Korea after winning the Players Championship on the PGA Tour last week. He previously won the SK Telecom Open three times (2003, 2005, 2008).
Kim Kyung-tae, last year’s top money earner in Japan, and two-time tournament winner Bae Sang-moon are also considered favorites to win the trophy.
