Song Ji-hyo goes back to acting in new divorcee role

Actress Song Ji-hyo of the SBS entertainment show “Running Man” said she is more of an actress than an entertainer, despite having been on the reality show circuit for a long time.

“My true career lies on being an actress,” she said.

Song made the comment at a press conference for the new cable TV drama “Emergency Man and Woman” at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Nonhyeon-dong, southern Seoul, yesterday. Song will play a lead role in the new drama.

“I have continued pursuing acting, but I needed some time to get back to work,” she said.

Song has acted in various periodic dramas, including the KBS drama “Mandate of Heaven.”

In the 20-episode romantic comedy, Song will play a divorced medical intern at a hospital where she encounters her ex-husband of an ugly divorce at an emergency room. The ex-husband is also chosen as an intern at the same hospital.

“I find acting a divorcee is interesting and sometimes a burden at the same time,” she said. “But, first of all, I’m just happy that I can show myself acting, [which will be different] from the images I have shown in the entertainment show.”
