WeMakePrice to launch food delivery service

WeMakePrice plans to launch a food delivery app service, intensifying the competition led by dominant players like Baedal Minjok and Yogiyo.

The e-commerce company announced Friday it will run a trial service next month.

It is currently expanding its partnerships with major franchise restaurants nationwide and self-owned restaurants in southern Seoul areas like the districts of Gangnam and Seocho.

But rather than directly delivering food, WeMakePrice will only connect restaurants to customers. Restaurants can deliver food, but customers can also choose to pick up food after ordering it through the app.

There won’t be an initial cost for restaurants joining the e-commerce operator, but they will have to pay a commission for the number of orders they receive through the platform. The commission fee will be lower than the price demanded by other food delivery apps.
