Bobby Kim drops first EP in 4 years

After a long wait for his fans, singer Bobby Kim released music for the first time in four and a half years on Friday. Kim dropped a five-track EP titled “Scarlette” on Friday evening.

The lead song “Why I” is a vintage soul track on which the singer talks about his wish to get back with his former lover.

Although he was once called the “godfather of soul” in Korea because of his unique voice, Kim has not made a public appearance since January 2015, when he was fined 4 million won ($3,350) for causing a disturbance on an airplane.

It was initially reported that Kim caused trouble and groped a female flight attendant during a flight from Incheon to San Francisco. The singer faced a great deal of public backlash because of the incident.

It was later revealed that the reason Kim became infuriated was because the airline took him for someone else with a similar name and gave him an economy class ticket instead of a first-class ticket, but the public had already turned their backs on him.

He appeared on the May 11 episode of MBC’s “Masked Singer,” during which he shed tears and spoke about his hope to be able to sing again.
