Son Heung-min returned with a bang on Saturday, leading Tottenham Hotspur to a big 4-0 win and ending a scoring drought that has lasted since April.

Son led the dominant Spurs team from the start, scoring the opening goal against Crystal Palace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just 10 minutes into the game. Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt deflected the ball into the back of the net to give Spurs a second goal at 21 minutes, and Son immediately followed up with a third goal just two minutes later.

Erik Lamela found the net again in the 42nd minute, and Spurs went into the half time break up 4-0 against their London rivals. The second half was quiet, with no goals scored but a string of bookings leaving Spurs with four yellow cards and Palace with three.

Son was named man of the match.

Son has struggled to find the back of the net in the last few months, both for Spurs and for the national team.

He last scored for Tottenham during the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals against Manchester City on April 17, when he picked up two goals.

In the Premier League, Son hasn’t scored since April 3, when he found the back of the net against Palace in the first ever game at Spurs’ new stadium.

Son is now Spurs’ top scorer across all competitions at the new stadium, netting four goals in seven appearances.

“As a striker I want to help the team, and I think individually we are better than them and that’s why I wanted to chase them without [stopping],” Son told Spurs TV after the game. “It doesn’t matter who scored the goals - we are all more than happy to win this game.”

Saturday’s win was also a big one for Spurs, who have failed to pick up three points since the opening match of the season on Aug. 11. Having picked up a loss against Newcastle on Aug. 26 and drawn against Man City on Aug. 18 and Arsenal on Sept. 2, Spurs needed a victory this week to return to the top four spots in the table.

The game also tied some records for the club. The 4-0 victory ties the record for Spurs’ biggest ever win in a London derby - which currently could be against Palace, Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham - and their biggest ever victory against Palace.

This is also Spurs’ ninth consecutive Premier League win against Palace, tying the club record with a nine-game streak against Birmingham that ended in September 1965.
