Korean film fest arrives in Indonesia

The 10th Korea Indonesia Film Festival is to be held until this Sunday in Indonesia, according to CJ CGV on Monday.

The annual film event is co-hosted by CJ CGV and Korean Cultural Center Indonesia which will take place in five cities in Indonesia - Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Medan and Surabaya. At this year’s festival, actor Kang So-ra will visit the country as the honorary ambassador.

“I’m so honored to have a chance to meet Indonesian fans who love Korean films,” said Kang. “I heard that the film ‘Sunny’ was remade into the Indonesian film ‘Bebas’ which is constantly beloved by the fans and I’m so proud and happy about this. I hope cultural transactions between the two countries are actively promoted through good films.”

The opening film for the event was “The Bad Guys: Reign of Chaos” and other 14 recently released Korean films are being screened at the CGV theaters in Indonesia. Five Indonesian films such as “Keluarga Cemara,” “Dua Garis Biru,” “Sunyi” and “Dilan 1991” will also be screened in the theaters during the festival period.
