Pollution-free CNG Bus

Two buses using pollution-free compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel will start to operate in Ansan, a satellite city of Seoul from September 15. According to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Energy (MOCIE), 35 buses will be in operation in Seoul, Inchon, and Kyonggi province in 1999.
Other local governments including the Kwangju Metropolitan Government are also interested in operating this bus in order to handle their chronic air pollution. Experts in the energy business said, 'CNG has almost the same efficiency as gasoline but it causes little pollution. Its price is only 60% to 75% of diesel fuel making it popular as a next generation fuel.' A source at MOCIE predicted that the government can solve the air pollution problem with a small investment (1.5 to 1.8 trillion won) through the CNG.
