Resignations, firings at Seoul Metro after death
Published: 06 Jun. 2016, 20:47
The resignations followed a directive from Seoul Metro’s Acting President Chung Soo-young, who said earlier on Sunday that he will accept resignations from executive-level mangers and officials responsible for the Guui Station accident. The 180 executives and managers have submitted their resignation letters, including two by the heads of Management Support Headquarters and General Engineering Headquarters.
Five officials overseeing platform door maintenance were discharged from their positions, including the head of the Engineering Department, a platform door safety management team leader of Seoul Metro, and the stationmaster at Guui Station. Seoul Metro is a public corporation run by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and operates Seoul subway lines No. 1 through 4.
