With new agency, Kara’s Park pursues acting

Singer Park Gyu-ri from the now-defunct girl group Kara has joined a new talent agency, Motion Media.

“We decided to sign an exclusive contract with Park, who is taking part in numerous activities,” said a person affiliated with the label on Wednesday.

“With the signing of this contract, Park will buckle down on acting full-time.”

The 28-year-old hopes to start the new chapter following Kara’s break-up in January.

Park originally started out as a child actress in 1995, but has become better known as the leader of Kara. Since the group debuted in 2007, they have received huge popularity in both Korea and abroad, particularly in Japan. Some of the group’s hits include “Honey,” “Mr.” and “Cupid.”

In addition, the singer has also taken part in numerous acting projects such as the movie “How to Break Up With My Cat” (2016). She also played minor roles in several dramas, including “Jang Yeong-sil” (2016) and “What is Mom” (2012).
