‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ stars will film in Palau and Spain

Actress Jun Ji-hyun and actor Lee Min-ho will head to Palau and Spain to shoot the upcoming SBS drama “Legend of the Blue Sea,” according to Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, on Friday.

“[Jun and Lee] will leave for Palau in late August and head over to Spain in September,” said a person affiliated with the drama.

“The two are heading to foreign countries in order to shoot exotic ocean views just like the title of the drama implies.”

The upcoming fantasy romance is based on a legend from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). According to the tale, there was once a fisherman who caught a number of mermaids, only to later release them back into the sea.

Jun will play a woman who comes to Seoul but gets into financial trouble, while Lee will play a cold con artist who falls in love with her.

The show was written by star screenwriter Park Ji-eun, who penned “My Love from the Star,” the most successful drama of 2014, which also starred Jun.

The new show will air in November after “Jealousy Incarnate” (working title), which will begin Aug. 24.
