Various calligraphic works and paintings by independent activists will be displayed at the Calligraphy Art Museum of the Seoul Arts Center to mark the 100th anniversary of the March 1 Independence Movement and the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. According to the museum, the handmade work is like the “self-portraits” of the activists, explaining the title of the exhibition. All the calligraphic works and paintings are made by activists, including Kim Gu, Han Yong-un, Ahn Jung-geun, Yi Yuk-sa and others.

MARCH 1ST MOVEMENT IN SEOUL AND PYONGYANG
Seoul Museum of History, Jongno District
March 1 to May 26
In celebration of the March 1 Independence Movement’s 100th anniversary, the Seoul Museum of History is introducing the March 1 Independence Movement of Seoul and Pyongyang to visitors through a special exhibition. Seoul is where the demonstration was planned and initiated, while Pyongyang was also a hub of the movement at the time. This exhibition closely examines and highlights the preparation and implementation of the March 1 Independence Movement in the two cities.
