Harman still No. 1 name in wireless speakers

For the fourth year in a row, Harman topped the global wireless speaker market, Samsung Electronics announced Sunday.

Harman, which Samsung Electronics acquired in 2016, accounted for 35.7 percent of the global wireless speaker market, according to Futuresource Consulting, a British research and consulting firm.

Some of the popular models include: JBL Pulse 3, Harman Kardon Aura Studio 2 and Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 5.

The JBL Pulse 3 features 360 degrees of omnidirectional stereo sound and a personalized LED light show. The Harman Kardon Aura Studio 2 features a transparent dome. The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 5 combines portability with sleek design, according to Samsung.

Samsung runs Harman studios at nine outlets, including the Samsung Digital Plaza in Daechi-dong, southern Seoul, Hi-Mart in Jamsil-dong, southern Seoul, and Hyundai Department Store at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi.

“[We will] do our best to continue maintaining [Harman speakers’] reputation [in Korea] by carefully paying attention to local customer demand,” said a spokesperson for Samsung while noting Harman’s achievement of adapting to changing consumers’ lifestyle through differentiated designs and sounds.
