Ma Dong-seok film is a hit overseasDistribution rights for actor Ma Dong-seok’s movie “The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil” have been pre-sold in 104 countries, overseas film distributor K-Movie Entertainment announced on Tuesday.
Before the film’s local premiere in May, the film shared a 3-minute promotional video at the American Film Market last November.
The previews proved more than enough to capture the minds of foreign buyers.
Taiwan distribution company Vie Vision Pictures, which currently owns the country’s largest multiplex theater Vieshow Cinemas, bought the movie at a higher price than other crime-action films.
“On top of Ma’s high credibility and positive reputation for his high-quality acting, the story’s interesting storyline seems to have grabbed attention from overseas,” said the agency.
The film tells the story of a gangster boss (Ma) teaming up with police to catch a serial killer who tried to kill him.
