‘Parasite’ comes to theaters May 30

Bong Jun-ho’s latest film “Parasite” is coming to local theaters on May 30, film distribution company CJ Entertainment announced on Friday.

The film became a media sensation after it was invited to compete in the upcoming 72nd Cannes Film Festival. This will be Bong’s fifth visit to the famed festival — he previously ventured to the annual movie event to present his films “The Host” (2006), “Tokyo!” (2008), “Mother” (2009) and “Okja” (2017).

Although the date for the world premiere of the film at the festival has not been set yet, the company made it official on Friday that the film’s cast, including Song Kang-ho, Cho Yeo-jeong, Jang Hye-jin, Lee Sun-kyun, Choi Woo-shik, and Park So-dam, will head to Cannes with Bong for the screening, press conferences and red carpet event.
