BTS tops Japan charts amid tour

Despite worsening relations between Korea and Japan, BTS kept strong on Japan’s Oricon charts for the fourth day running, Big Hit Entertainment announced on Sunday.

According to the agency, BTS sat atop Japan’s daily single chart for the fourth day on Sunday, with their latest Japanese single “Lights/Boy With Luv,” which was released on July 3.

The three-track single, containing the new song “Lights” and Japanese versions of BTS’s hits “Boy With Luv” (2019) and “Idol” (2018), accumulated 34,537 points on Saturday, fortifying its place at No. 1 with a total of 569,170 points.

Oricon calculates the points based on the number of downloads and streams and makes its weekly update every Tuesday.

BTS held two concerts on Saturday and Sunday at Osaka’s Yanma Stadium Nagai, filling seats with avid fans as usual, regardless of the worsening Seoul-Tokyo ties that began with a diplomatic row between the two governments.

The septet will finish the Japanese leg of their world tour this weekend with two concerts at Shizuoka’s Stadium Ecopa on Saturday and Sunday.
