Samsung unveils new Galaxy Watch Active2
The device, unveiled on Tuesday, is the latest addition to Samsung’s smartwatch portfolio and comes six months after the launch of the original Galaxy Watch Active and just ahead of its Galaxy Note10 unpacking event, due to take place today in New York, tomorrow in Korean Standard Time.
The sporty version of the Galaxy Watch comes in two models - a Bluetooth-only version and one with Bluetooth and LTE connectivity. The LTE model allows users to make and receive phone calls and send texts directly from the watch without connecting it to a smartphone.
The Active2 comes in two different sizes - 40 millimeters and 44 millimeters - and two styles: lightweight aluminum with a casual band and stainless steel with a leather strap. It has a rotating bezel to allow users to easily swipe between different apps.
The fitness watch can track over 39 different workouts and can monitor blood pressure and stress levels and incorporates new health sensors on the back to take in readings faster. It also features real-time voice and text translations in over 16 languages and supports Samsung’s digital wallet service, Samsung Pay.
“The smartwatch market is rapidly growing, and we at Samsung are excited to continually expand our presence in new and visionary ways,” said Koh Dong-jin, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics’ IT & Mobile Communications Division.
“With the Galaxy Watch Active2, we have created a device that will enable consumers to take control of their health and wellness and seamlessly flow between their devices and connect across the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem, making their lives easier and better.”
