SK Group started a four-day forum for group executives to discuss and learn about current affairs, business trends and the latest technologies on Monday.

The group’s annual Icheon Forum, held for the third time this year, kicked off at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul in eastern Seoul on Monday with some 300 SK executives, employees and guests present.

While the first and second rounds of the forum focused on understanding what the “deep change” emphasized by SK Chairman Chey Tae-won really means, the third forum will focus on how to actually bring about change using digital technology, the group said. SK’s “deep change movement” stresses the importance of businesses creating social value on top of financial value.

This year, a total of 26 sessions will be held over four days. There will be sessions on new technologies like energy solutions, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as on employee empowerment.

“Energy solutions, digital transformation and AI are tools that are necessary to generate social value as well as financial value,” a spokesperson from SK said.

“We will discuss how to use these tools to better understand customers and create social value.”

China’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) will also take part in the forum. The council has been jointly researching how to measure social value created by a company in partnership with SK. The two will hold joint seminars during the four-day event.
