Incheon Korean Air Jumbos sign setter Yoo Kwang-woo

The Incheon Korean Air Jumbos signed setter Yoo Kwang-woo on Monday.

“To strengthen our team, we will sign Yoo Kwang-woo through a cash trade with Seoul Woori Card Wibee,” said the Jumbos on Monday.

Having played for Inha University, Yoo joined the V-league after being drafted by the Daejeon Samsung Fire Bluefangs in 2007. With the Bluefangs, Yoo won seven V-League titles and was named the V-league’s top setter three times.

After the 2016-17 season, Yoo joined the Wibee as a compensation player for free agent Park Sang-ha. Last season, Yoo was the team’s back-up setter.

In the upcoming season with the Jumbos, Yoo is once again expected to be the back-up setter, as the Jumbos have been starting setter Han Sun-soo.

“Along with Han Sun-soo, the addition of Yoo Kwang-woo will allow the club to strengthen its roster for the 2019-20 season and in case of Han Sun-soo’s leave for national team duty, [Yoo will] balance the team,” said the Jumbos. “We expect to win both the regular season and the championship, which we couldn’t accomplish last year.”

The Jumbos won the 2018-19 regular season, finishing ahead of the Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers, but lost the Championships to the Skywalkers.
