Lee Jae-yong is back on tourSamsung Electronics Vice Chair Lee Jae-yong told research and development workers that the company’s tech development should be “unhindered” by external uncertainties.
The vice chair had started his tour of Samsung plants in July, but after the decision, several industry watchers expected Lee to ease out of the public eye.
During a Wednesday meeting, Lee received executive reports on the progress of major R&D tasks and future strategy on tech development for communications, displays, robots and artificial intelligence (AI).
“The more uncertainty we face, we need to stay focused on our tasks, unwaveringly,” Lee told executives. “We need new technology to create a new future. Thorough preparation and constant challenges are a must.”
The Yangjae R&D center is at the core of Samsung’s global research activities.
Lee’s visit stresses his desire to continue tech development in high-tech fields, Samsung said.
