Shiny Foundation supports artists

Shiny Foundation, an organization dedicated to honoring the late Jonghyun, who was a member of boy band SHINee, donated a million won ($842) to musicians in partnership with the Korea Music Copyright Association (Komca), the two organizations announced on Friday.

According to Komca, five musicians, including vocalist Kim Hyuk-gun of rock band The Cross, received the donations.

Kim and his band were prominent stars in the early 2000s Korean music scene, but he has not been able to pursue an active career since 2012 when he was diagnosed with paralysis due to a traffic accident.

“I am so happy to have been invited to such a meaningful event by the Shiny Foundation and Komca,” he said.

“As it is the will of Jonghyun, I will try to make more good music in the future.”

The Shiny Foundation was founded last year in September by the singer’s family and other young musicians, and has been active in supporting musicians across the Korean music industry.
