LG Electronics hired 12 experts in AI this year

LG Electronics announced Sunday that it has hired its first batch of artificial intelligence (AI) experts.

The Korean electronics company hired 12 experts in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Toronto since last April. The new employees will work on LG’s AI-based projects and serve as mentors for other researchers.

They received a 16-week education program at the institutions on conducting research projects on real business problems.

Since last year, LG Electronics has partnered with the University of Toronto to secure AI technologies and established a Toronto AI Lab. The company has also been running a “Software Architect” education program in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University since 2011.
