Woowa Brothers rolls out Snapchat-like Thiiing

Woowa Brothers on Tuesday rolled out Thiiing, a platform where users can share short videos with family and friends.

Woowa Brothers, which operates the Baemin food delivery platform, introduced the Snapchat-like platform to connect with people in their teens and 20s, who are more used to communicating through videos rather than pictures, according to Baemin.

Users of Thiiing can make and share videos that are less than 10 seconds in length. The app offers various special effects through the application of augmented reality (AR) that can help users express their personalities. Users can play games together on the app, like staring contests.

Woowa Brothers teamed up with an AR technology firm Seerslab from the development stage to introduce the app. They plan to add more “diverse and revolutionary functions,” according to Woowa Brothers.

Videos posted on Thiiing can be viewed for only 24 hours, but the content maker can save the video.

The app users can get a sense of the effectiveness of their video through a circular ball that sits next to hashtags. The size and color of the ball changes depending on popularity.

“We introduced Thiiing with the goal to offer an entertainment platform for people in teens and 20s,” said Shin Jeong-ho, director at Woowa Brothers
