(G)I-DLE tops brand index, again

Girl group (G)I-DLE has topped the Brand Reputation Index for girl groups for the second consecutive month, Korea Reputation Center reported on Monday.

According to the research center’s big data analysis of 75,726,989 pieces of online data, (G)I-DLE ranked No. 1 on the Brand Reputation Index for all K-pop girl groups from Oct. 10 to Nov. 9, followed by Twice and Mamamoo.

The public’s interest in (G)I-DLE mostly came from the recently-wrapped competition program “Queendom,” where six female acts competed to be named K-pop’s new queen.

Although (G)I-DLE didn’t win the final round, their performances throughout the show made headlines for their power and uniqueness, especially their track “Lion” that member Soyeon composed.

“The key words related to (G)I-DLE were ‘Queendom, Soyeon, Miyeon’ and ‘Cool, support, unique.’ Positive feedback made up 62.72 percent [of their mentions],” the research center said.

The music video for “Lion” has been seen over 11.8 million times on YouTube so far and sits high on local streaming charts, after its release on Oct. 25.

Meanwhile, Soyeon performed at the opening ceremony of the League of Legends World Championship finals on Sunday in Paris for the second year.

Soyeon and Miyeon performed at the finals in Incheon last year as well.
