Korea hits 2 million Netflix usersThe number of paying Netflix subscribers in Korea is estimated to have hit 2 million, according to app analysis company Wiseapp on Tuesday.
The number has been steadily on the rise since the company started to track the number of local users of the streaming service in February 2018, which started off with 400,000. In February 2019, the number surpassed 1.2 million and is believed to have reached 2 million last month.
Based on the statistics, 69 percent of subscribers are those in their 20s and 30s.
The total sum that local users paid on the platform accumulated up to 26 billion won ($22.3 million).
The company based their analysis on a sample survey from records of local users paying the account through their credit cards and receipts from the Apple App Store and Google Play store.
