‘Phantom Singer’ is going global

JTBC’s singing competition show “Phantom Singer” will be holding auditions in North America for its upcoming third season.

“We’ve decided to hold auditions in North America in response to increasing demand from people living abroad who wish to participate,” said producer Kim Hyung-joong through a statement. The show made headlines last month for confirming that it will hold European auditions for the first time as well.

“We are already receiving an explosive number of inquiries about overseas auditions from applicants, a reflection of the high interest in ‘Phantom Singer 3,’” JTBC continued in the statement. “As high as expectations are, we plan on presenting high quality music of various genres.”

Before it premieres next year, “Phantom Singer 3” will conduct auditions in New York in January and in an undetermined location in Europe sometime next month or early January. Male applicants of all ages and nationalities are welcome.

“Phantom Singer,” which first kicked off in 2016, is a competition for male singers who are talented in multiple genres like opera, musicals and K-pop. Four winners are selected each season to form a quartet.
