Korean films screened at Indian fest

K-pop and Korean films were included for the first time as part of the events at the 4th India International Cherry Blossom Festival, according to the Korean Cultural Centre India on Sunday.

This year’s festival was from Wednesday to Saturday in Shillong, India. Annually, 60,000 participants enjoy the event and LG Electronics was the main sponsor of this year’s festival.

On Friday, after a taekwondo demonstration, the Korean film “Confidential Assignment” (2017) was screened. On Saturday, the films “I Can Speak” (2017) and “Fabricated City” (2017) were also screened and the festival’s finale featured a performance by singer Jang Han-byul.

“This year marks the first Korean cultural event to be hosted in Shillong,” said ambassador Shin Bong-kil. “I hope this can open up opportunities where Hallyu can blossom like fall cherry blossoms.”
