CJ’s ScreenX named Tech of the Year

CJ CGV subsidiary CJ 4DPLEX was given the Technology of the Year award for its ScreenX theaters at the annual 2019 Cinema Technology Community Awards held by the international association earlier this month in London, the company reported Friday.

ScreenX, which first entered British cinemas last August, was honored for maximizing the movie-going experience and changing the way people enjoy movies based on audience feedback from across the world, according to the report. ScreenX projects films on three walls of the theater - the front, left and right - simultaneously.

Since debuting the technology in Korea in 2012, CJ now operates 268 ScreenX theaters in 27 countries, including Thailand and France. CJ 4DPLEX previously won the Innovator of the Year award at the film convention ShowEast last year.
