Agency promises to defend Park
Entertainment agency Seven Seasons will be appointing a legal attorney for Park Kyung after a number of fellow musicians announced they would sue him for defamation on Monday.
“Aside from the issue [surrounding the singers], we have our duty as Park Kyung’s agency to protect our artist and speak on their behalf,” Seven Seasons said.
“We will be dealing with any legal procedures by appointing an attorney, should the need arise in the coming days.”
The statement came after Park uploaded a Twitter post on Sunday, implying specific singers engaged in sajaegi, referring to the act of streaming with multiple IDs to push songs up the music charts.
The agencies of all six acts mentioned by Park promised legal action.
While Park’s agency apologized for inconveniencing people whose names have been mentioned, they expressed their hopes “for the rumors surrounding the current situation in the local music charts to come to light.”
“We hope to see a fundamental and systematical solution to the problems that cause the current situation,” the agency said.
