According to the Shinsegae Group, Cha Jeong-ho, Shinsegae International CEO, was appointed to head Shinsegae, which operates the retail group’s department stores. Cha swapped posts with Jang Jae-young, the department store’s current CEO.

The company did make one big change. It created a new local fashion bureau within Shinsegae International, which will be headed by Son Mun-kuk, a vice president at Shinsegae.

Cha, the department store’s new CEO, is a former Samsung Group employee. He started his career working for Samsung C&T, the Korean conglomerate’s trading arm, and also worked at the duty-free business of Hotel Shilla, which is also owned by Samsung Group. Cha joined Shinsegae Group as the head of Shinsegae International in 2017.

Jang, who will be moving to Shinsegae International, also used to work for Samsung Group. He joined Shinsegae in 2007 as a high-ranking official in charge of marketing for the department store business. He also served as the chairman of the Korea Department Store Association between 2013 and 2015.
