‘Parasite’ soundtrack skyrocketsFollowing the historical achievement made by “Parasite” this week, the film’s soundtrack is also gaining attention from listeners, the music streaming service Genie Music said on Thursday.
According to Genie, streams of the “Parasite” soundtrack have increased 10-fold since the film took home four Academy Awards on Sunday.
Streams increased by 11 times on Monday and 14 times on Tuesday. That number jumped to 16 times on Wednesday.
“It’s usually the case that soundtracks get more traffic when a movie is still in theatres,” an official from Genie Music said.
“But it’s very rare that the streaming traffic goes up after a film wins an award. The nation-wide attention being given to ‘Parasite’ has led more people to listen to the soundtrack.”
Spotify also revealed in a tweet posted on Tuesday that streams of the soundtrack “soared more than 1,400 percent” after the film took home the Oscars.
