Household income fell 0.7 percent on year in the second quarter to 4.29 million won ($3,600), mainly as a result of the high level of government payments in the same period in 2020.
According to Statistics Korea on Thursday, in the first quarter average household monthly income was 4.38 million won, up 0.4 percent on year. Income from work fell 1.3 percent and business income dropped 1.6 percent.
According to Statistics Korea on Thursday, the average household income in the last three months of 2020 was 5.16 million won, a 1.8 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Top 20 percent in the first three months of this year saw average monthly income expand 6.3 percent compared to the previous year to 11.2 million won. The bottom 20 percent remained flat at 1.49 million won
