Korea's fiscal deficit is estimated to be sharply smaller than its previous estimate last year on the back of larger-than-expected tax revenue, the finance ministry said Thursday.
According to the Finance Ministry on Tuesday, it collected 240.2 trillion won in taxes between January and August, 53.3 trillion won or 29 percent more than a year earlier.
Korea is likely to collect more than expected tax revenue this year, potentially securing ammunition to finance another extra budget that could be under review to help underpin an economic recovery.
