Korean and Japanese airlines will offer flights to and from Gimpo and Haneda every day starting July 25, with the ministries of both countries agreeing to increase flight frequencies.
Airline demand is rapidly recovering, with a doubling of the number of passengers utilizing Korea's main gateway over the past three months.
Passengers board a plane at the international flight boarding area of Gimpo International Airport in Gangseo District, western Seoul, on Wednesday, the same day the Gimpo-Haneda route resumed operation.
Korean Air and Asiana will operate flights on Wednesday and Saturday. Japan Airlines on Thursday and Sunday and All Nippon Airways (ANA) on Monday and Friday.
Travelers from Korea will be able to go to Japan from June 10, but only on group tours.
