Approximately 70 Gwangju Global Motors employees, represented by the Korean Metal Workers’ Union, staged a strike.
Gwangju Global Motors, a venture involving Hyundai Motor, the city of Gwangju and a labor union, halted its production until Wednesday following China's lockdown of Shanghai.
Work on joint venture between the Gwangju local government and Hyundai Motor began two years ago. The country’s first mini SUV — currently labeled the AX1 — will be rolling off of Gwangju Global Motors' production line in September.
